OUR SEASONAL PRODUCE OFFERINGS
We carry in season, a large variety of organic practice, beautiful cut flowers, meat, eggs and vegetables. In past seasons we have grown: apples, arugula, beans, beets, braising greens, broccoli, cauliflower, chard, mesclun, mizuna, mustard greens, onions, pears, peppers, plumbs, salad mix, winter and summer squash, sugar snap peas, tomatoes, tomatillos, turnips, zucchini, garlic, garlic scapes, spinard, spinach, and walnuts. We have fresh duck and chicken eggs, cut flowers, and a beautiful variety of heritage pork and lamb, both USDA cut and wrapped.
Building community through food
When we thought about reopening the historical farmstand, we thought about our immediate community, and how we can provide fresh, local, organic practice food to both our island neighbors, as well as the stream of visitors that pass by our farm daily. We just love meeting people over food. We give them a taste of what truly beautiful food is when harvested just that morning.
We decided against doing a fully unmanned farmstand because we want to connect with our community. The farmstand has a long history, the Humes opened the stand and sold their produce on Wednesdays. We’ve met many longtime locals who spent years coming by the farm to stock up on their favorites.
We’ve now added to our community of food lovers and growers by becoming Land Hosts for OCPA (Orcas Community Participatory Agriculture.) We teach people how to grow their own food. Participants come twice a week to learn farming and gardening. They learn everything from soil to seed, to plants and produce. They then take home a generous share of the bountiful produce each week. Please consider joining us for next season!
